journaling

a journal entry can be one small thing.

you do not have to be someone who journals. if a blank page feels like work, keep a photo, a line or a few seconds of your voice instead. a little record of your day can be that light.

what is micro journaling?

micro journaling means keeping small entries: a sentence, a quick observation, a picture with a few words. micro logging can be just as simple. the point is to leave yourself something you can return to.

footnotes keeps those fragments in notebooks. write, take a photo, record your voice or keep a video, with the different parts of the moment together.

keep a daily journal at your own pace.

if you enjoy a longer daily journal entry, there is room for that too. write about what happened, add photographs, and return later when another thought arrives.

a quiet day still belongs in a diary. so does a busy one with no tidy conclusion. daily journaling can be a habit you enjoy without becoming an assignment.

a photo diary. a voice journal. your words.

some things are easier to photograph than describe. other things are better said out loud. keep writing, photos, videos up to 8 seconds, voice memos and everyday sounds in one note. add the song you were listening to, for the vibe of the moment.

a coffee you made, a sentence from a book, the sound outside your window: small entries give ordinary days somewhere to live.

keep a little journal with your people.

share a notebook with friends or family for the small updates that would otherwise disappear in a busy chat. a shared journal can hold everyone's photographs, thoughts and everyday moments in one timeline.

notice something. keep a little of it.

a patch of sunlight, the sound outside your window, a conversation on the way home. if you want to feel more present in your everyday life, try keeping one observation. you can put your phone away again without turning it into a long writing exercise.

a little writing, even on a flight.

you do not need a connection to keep writing in a notebook already on your device. write a thought in airplane mode, or browse notes and media available on your phone. footnotes keeps pending changes on your device and syncs them when you reconnect. content that has not been downloaded and online features still need a connection.

a footnotes journal entry combining a photograph of a sunlit street with a short piece of writing.
a photograph, a few words. enough to come back to.
